Breathing
by Dyonne Marina
Mildly impatient, I waited for the two women who had dressed me every morning since I was a kid to leave my room. Today they had dressed me in a beautiful dark gown and tied up my long hair. They had once again made me the most beautiful girl in the kingdom - the way a princess should be.
When they door closed, I exhaled softly. Slowly my fingers reached to the back of my dress and I began to untie the ribbons of my corset.
I hated the feeling; how my corset was tight, to make my waist look smaller and my breasts look good.
I held my breath until the corset opened. But even though the corset fell on to the floor with a small thud, making it not being around my body anymore, I still felt trapped.
The top of my dress dropped to my hips and with my eyes on the door I reached for my dresser. I turned the key and pulled the drawer. Without looking I reached into it and my fingers searched for a sturdy piece of cloth.
I took it out of the drawer and quickly began to wrap it around my naked chest. Each wrap tighter than the one before. And every time I pulled the fabric, it felt like I could breathe better.
When I was finished; the bandage was even more compressed than my corset. But I could breath… I was finally free.
And when I put my corset back on, and my chest was flat, I felt like the happiest person alive.
