I specialize in human and fantasy characters of all kinds, but I can also do landscape/scenery.
I am fine with painting nudity. Sexual themes are also fine, but nothing pornographic (this is subjective, so feel free to ask me and I’ll let you know if I can do it or not).
I will not draw book related art I need a license for (if I don't have one)!
I design bookcovers, (reversed) dustjackets, edges and many more things.

Detailed backgrounds start at €70.
If the commission has an extensive amount of detail or complexity, the price could be a little higher than listed.
I can give you the exact price after receiving a description of what you’re looking for.
I offer all kind of sizes you want!

I can do vertical or horizontal, but I can also do any other type (like a circle or anything you can come up with!).

A normal commission will be made on an A5 format (148 x 210 mm) with a 3 mm margin around the whole illustration. I will draw at 3031 x 4252 pixels with a DPI minimum of 300.

I will not make your illustration on a smaller canvas than A5, but after the illustration is finished, it can be resized to any size! Let me know beforehand if you want it in different sizes!

I will draw in CYMK.

Feel free to always aks me for my input!
But here are already some things you can think about:
- If you want character art of more than 1 character, I would not recommend choosing the Bust Portrait. They would not fit great and it will look awkward.
- If you would like a close up of your characters face and don't mind a lot about the clothing being visible, I would recommend a Bust Portrait Commission.
- If you want an artwork to introduce your character(s) for the first time, I would most likely pick the Half Body Commission. With this type you can see the face from up close, but you can also see some details of clothing which will give your readers more information about your character!
- If you want a scene displayed from your book, I would choose the Full Body Commission. Your scene would most likely flow more and look better as a whole!
Your commission price will be calculated on the character that is visible the most.
So, if one of your characters is for example lifting a mermaid out of the ocean and is only half visible, but the mermaid is fully visible: you will need to purchase a two character Full Body Commission.

Background

All commissions come with a simple colored background at no extra charge.

Illustrated background costs from €50-500 extra. This really depends how high the level of detail is.

Below you can see some examples of backgrounds and their pricing. You can always ask for more details or a price calculation. Most of the detailed background will fall into the €100-250 category. Only really high rendered background with a lot of details (like a fully details cloud scene, a greenhouse with hundreds of little trinkets) will fall into the last category.

I will decide in which price category the background falls.

Note: if you have really small characters like on the third illustration, you will not pay the full character illustration price. I will decide what the final price would be. If you want more information, you can always email me.

Commercial License

The above prices are all listed for personal use. If your commission is for commercial use, a following fee will be added.

You may not use the purchased artwork for commercial use or to gain profits (i.e. selling merchandise that features my artwork) unless you have paid commercial license.

It is possible to use your purchased artwork for commercial use or to gain profits (i.e. selling merchandise that features my artwork). To do this, you need to purchase a commercial license.

It is possible to purchase the commercial license on a later date. Even after your commission has been finished.

If you are an author and you would like to purchase the commercial license because you are going to use the illustration in your book or help to promote your book, you get a discount on the commercial license!
Instead of +100% of your commission price you only have to pay +50%!
- This discount excludes the Book Cover Commissions, since the exclusive license is already in the price.
- You will pay +50% of the commission price, but you will receive the full exclusive license.
Yes you can!

You can purchase a commercial license at any time in the future. You will pay +100% of your original commission price and will gain the commercial rights immidiately after signing!

I offer a year-long license for pre-existing work. The price of this license if €350 excl. VAT.
This license renews yearly and every year you will get the choice to renew it.

I will only sell license for pre-existing illustrations, so no enamel pin or sticker designs (or anything similair).

Keep the following things in mind:
- If you request an illustration for this license, I can say no if I want the illustration to be exclusive in my own shop.
- This license will be non-exclusive, meaning that I or someone else will also be allowed to sell it.
- I will not make any alterations to the illustration, nor will you.
Please contact me and we will discuss the process!
A commercial license is not refundable after the remaining balance has been paid and after the illustration has been finished.
If you haven't paid the remaining balance, the commercial license price will be deducted from this balance. You will have to pay what's left.

If you haven't paid the deposit yet, we can definitely change it up. However, keep in mind that if you already did sign the contract, we will need to make a new contract for you to sign again.

How does it work?

Book Cover Commission

First you need to decide if you want an e-book, paperback(/hardcover) or dust jacket commission! I will confirm the price with you!

Then, to kick off the process, I want to ask you to send me the whole idea with as many details as you like! Please share if you have any specific themes, concepts or visual elements that you would like to see incorporated in the cover! Whether it's a specific color palette, mood or symbolism! You can send me reference pics, vibes or certain elements from other covers/illustrations you like, color palettes and all kinds of details!

Then there are a few more things I would need from you:

- The (estimated) size of the book cover

- Do you want me to design the text for the cover? (This is included in the commission, but some people like to do that themselves!) If you want to do it yourself, that is also absolutely fine!

- The type of cover design you want: one big illustration from the front to the back, two separate images with a (solid) colored spine, or anything else?

After all of this and once you signed the contracts, I will start creating and you will slowly see your book cover become a reality!

  You can click here for an email set-up!
- I will review your order and reply letting you know if I can accept the commission and confirm the price with you. I will also let you know if I can start right away, or if I put your commission on the waiting list.
- After we both have signed the Agreements, I’ll start by sending you a sketch for you to approve. At this stage you can let me know if there are any changes that need to be made before we move on.
- Once the deposit has been received I’ll continue painting.
You can give me as much information as you'd like! In case of character of book illustrations, I would prefer it if I could get at least some of the following things:
- Character and personality description;
- Background story or little blurb of your story (I like to know this so I can get to know the characters more, feel free to send as much as you want)
- The emotions you want to portray
- Any specific positions
- Any specific color palettes
- Any specific wishes for the background
- Any specific wishes for the vibes of the background/whole illustration
- Any references or a Pinterest board
Don't feel obliged to send all of these, just send me whatever you would like and what you think is necessary! If I miss any information, I will let you know!

For a book cover commission I need to know the following things before getting started:
- The size of the book cover (you can also give me an estimated size, please let me know, I will keep in mind that it may still need to be adjusted
- Do you want to do the text yourself or do you want me to do it
Yes, I do!

It's mandatory to purchase a commercial license if you want to use the purchased artwork for commercial use or to gain profits (i.e. selling merchandise that features my artwork).

Commissions are added to my waiting list in order of when they were purchased, unless you have commissioned me for a time sensitive piece (birthday, anniversary, convection artwork) or choose a specific, available spot in the future!
If you would like to have a piece on a date before my first available spot, you can always email me!
If I have enough time, we can arrange a rush order. An extra fee may be added for rush orders, depending on how much time there is for the commission.
It is also possible that I am completely booked and I unfortunately can't work on your commission before given date.
I will complete and deliver the commissioned artwork within a maximum of 8 weeks after receiving the deposit, if not a specific later date has been discussed.
All attempts will be made to complete the artwork by in the contract listed date, but in the case if unforeseen circumstances, you will be notified of any delays within 72 hours of the due date or as soon as a delay is caused.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before I begin working on the commission and is due upon signing the given Contract.
The remaining balance is due upon completion and delivery of the artwork described above, within ten (10) business days.

You can pay through a direct bank transfer (preferable) or through PayPal. My currency is EURO.

We can always talk about a payment schedule or paying afterwards! If life happens, just message me and we can always figure something out!

Yes, you do!
I have two different contracts:
- BIA Art Commission Agreement
- BIA Art Commercial Commission Agreement

The first contract will be signed for any type of commission that is for personal use. The second contract will be signed for any type of commission that concludes a commercial license.

The contracts look really formal, but everything is stated there clearly and it's for your and my protection.
You can always message me about any questions you have about the contracts.

The commission is officially accepted when both parties have signed the contract(s). This also results in me not starting with the commission before you've send back a signed agreement.
You cannot resell the artwork unless you signed and paid for a commercial license.

For altering the artwork, I do not allow heavy editing (like filters, color changes or morphing), but you are ofcourse allowed to edit it for social media posts (with text or some borders for example), or for example a label for on a candle!

However, I do not allow cropping out my signature. If you want to crop the image and my signature will be cropped out, please message me and I will replace my signature for you!

If you are not sure, feel free to message me! I will contact you if I am not okay with your alteration.
You will receive the rights to use the artwork for the intended purpose (e.g., personal use or commercial use), but I retain the copyright to the artwork.

I do not want, but I also can't give you the full rights to my artwork because of the Dutch Copyright Law.
I would absolutely love to do that, but I unfortunately I can't guarantee that I will read the book or finish it before or during the commission slot.
I wish I could, but I do not have that much time...

I do not allow to let my art turn into NFT's or feed it into an Artificial Intelligence Generator. Thank you for your understanding!

My art is 100% original, made by me.

If a commission is canceled during the sketch phase, a partial refund may be available. However, if significant progress has been made, refunds are not typically offered. Please review the details of my cancellation policy.
The deposit you make is non-refundable. However, if a commission is canceled during the sketch phase, a partial refund may be available.
However, if significant progress has been made, the deposit will not be refundable and there is a chance you need to pay an additional fee of the remaining balance.

More of this is stated in the contract you will have to read and sign before the commission starts.
My goal is to ensure you are happy with the final illustration.
With the way I work and communicate during the commission process you will have enough time to revision the illustration and make changes until you're happy.

But, it can always happen that you change your mind when it's finished or that something is off that you first didn't see. Please contact me and I will see what I can do for you! If the changes are small and easy to do, I will not charge you for it.
However, any big changes after the final piece is approved may require additional fees.

I understand that sometimes life happens, so first of all: no worries about canceling.
If you need to cancel a commission, please notify me as soon as possible. Here is what will happen at different stages:
- Before signing any contracts: nothing and you will lose your spot.
- After signing the contracts: nothing, but you can regain your spot until one month before the commission month. After this the contract will be terminated.
- After making the deposit: you will most likely not get your deposit back, since it's non-refundable and a deposit is required when sending over the first sketches, so that means I have started the art work.
- After the art work is around the coloring phase (atleast after the approved line-art): . In case of the commission being in a late stage of completion, you will have to pay an additional fee of 50% of the remaining balance.
- After the art work is (almost) finished: completed work is non-refundable and I would prefer it if you would fully pay me for my work.
Keep in mind that if you cancel your commission, you will lose all rights to the illustration and are NOT allowed to use the already received images. I will also not finish your illustration.

If the project is still in its early stages, we can discuss a partial refund. Completed work is non-refundable.
